The Subconscious Jesus This image is going to seem odd unless I share a story to give some context. At my school, Master's College and Seminary, they hired a new staff member to work as the Dean of Students Assistant who's name is Ryan Jedynak. One day as some of the student leaders at the school (me being one of them) were preparing to leave for a trip, Ryan walked up wearing the sandals that you see him modelling in the picture below. Without even a hesitation, one of the students said, "hey Ryan, nice Jesus sandals." Since we were all Christians it made sense that we would immediately associate a sandal like that with Jesus. However I was shocked to discover that we were not the only ones to do this. Ryan told us that the sandals were from Pali Hawaii Sandals and that we should all get a pair. Relatable Jesus On Friday September 20, 2019 I went on a class trip to visit historical Canadian Pentecostal sites around Toronto. It was a great trip of learning about my Pentecostal history and commemorating those who blazed the trail for the Pentecostals of 2019. The reason why I am sharing this is because one of the stops on the trip was at St. John the Compassionate Mission Orthodox Church. It was a stop because when the church was first built it was actually used as the first Pentecostal church in Canada. I knew that I would find some images of Jesus in the church because of the Orthodox tradition of having icons all throughout their places of worship and I was right. A Good Inspiration This past week as I was scrolling through facebook I saw an article written by the Christian Broadcast Network that was entitled, "Chance the Rapper Points to Jesus When Ellen Asks About His Motivation for Charity Work." I immediately watched the video (see below) of the interview and read the  article  to see what happened for myself. In the video, Ellen begins the interview by asking Chance about his family. From there, she moves on to asking Chance as the article title indicates about his inspiration for all of the charity work that he does. After a little hesitation, Chance tells Ellen at 3:28, "So my understanding of a lot of stuff is based on uh, Jesus so like Jesus teaches to be like you know to care for your neighbour and care for people that aren't necessarily your blood but still a part of your body cause we are all humans..."
